Positive Energy...Fuel Your Ride with Positive Energy

“Every day when we look at the gas pump of life we have a choice between positive energy and negative energy.  Positive energy is high octane fuel for the ride of your life                           while negative energy causes sludge to accumulate in your energy pipeline.”
- Jon Gordon

How can we not be positive when we think of all the things we have to be thankful for?

In The Energy Bus, Jon Gordon says, “When the work is piled high on your desk, think about how thankful you are to even have a job while so many are unemployed.  When work is driving you crazy, think about the fact that you are healthy enough to work.  When you are sitting in traffic, be thankful you can drive a car while so many have to walk miles just to get clean water.  When the restaurant messes up your meal, think about how many unfed mouths there are in the world.”

We should all apply the “One Great Golf Shot Theory” to our lives.  This theory is based on the idea that after a day of golf, golfers always remember and focus on the one great shot they had that day, rather than all the bad shots they made.

The Energy Bus contrasted it this way, “People often go to bed thinking about all the things that went wrong when instead they should apply the one great golf shot theory to their life…focusing on the one great success that will inspire them to look forward to creating more success tomorrow.”

This has been a major focus for us at Muhlenberg South Middle School.  I ask teachers to email me their great news/successes each day or at least every couple of days.  The main purpose of this is to remind them to focus on the positives and to energize them to look forward to the next day and the successes it will bring.

“If we magnified blessings as much as we magnify disappointments, we would all be much happier.”
– Coach John Wooden
