“It’s all about focus. Without focus buildings don’t get built, paintings don’t get painted, and energy gets scattered.”
- Jon Gordon
As leaders, we must focus on our vision and be able to communicate it clearly to all stakeholders, with our desire for student success fueling us on the journey. Our desire and vision must drive us in every action we take. We must also make sure that our actions match our desire and vision. So, how do we turn our vision into reality? It starts with our thoughts.
Author Earl Nightingale said, “You become what you think about; this is the strangest secret.”
The law of attraction says that, “The more we focus on something, the more we think about something, the more it shows up in our lives.” Think about what happens when you buy a new car or a new dress…you start seeing another one like it everywhere. Our thoughts are powerful!
Great leaders use the power of thought and visualize their best. According to Jon Gordon research on visualization and Olympic athletes shows that, “Behind every gold medal are hours of visualizing their best performance or race.”
Are you visualizing what your best looks like? Are your students visualizing their best? As leaders/professionals, we should always seek to improve in every aspect of our lives. This will lead us to the ultimate success for our students, our staffs, our schools, our communities, and ourselves.
“If you truly do your best, and only you really know, then you are successful and the actual score is immaterial whether it was favorable or unfavorable.”
- Coach John Wooden
