As another school year has come and gone, we have the opportunity to reflect on the past year. Our reflection allows us to grow as professionals and become the best version of ourselves. Peter Drucker said it best when he said, “Follow effective action with quiet reflection. From the quiet reflection will come even more effective action.” A major part of reflection is remembering our purpose. We entered education to make a difference. At KASA, we have heard Jon Petz speak on knowing why we do what we do, and recognizing the significance in simple moments (If you haven’t read Jon Petz’s book titled Significance in Simple Moments pick up a copy today). Jon Gordon says, “People get burned out not because of the work they do, but because they forget why they do it.” We must remember our why and remind our team/staff to focus on their why as well.
As a leader, we are responsible for our districts/schools. We must Fuel Our Ride with Purpose, Passion, and Positivity so we can have fun and enjoy this wonderful ride called life.
