Bio

Jon Ballard attended the University of Kentucky after graduating from Elizabethtown High School in 1983. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, he began his teaching career at Elizabethtown High School in 1987. For the next 10 years, he taught high school Mathematics there earning his Master’s Degree in Mathematics and a Rank I in Administration at Western Kentucky University. In 1997, he moved to Barren County to become assistant principal at Barren County Middle School. After one year there, Jon became the principal at Eastern Elementary School (a pace-setter school) in Barren County. In 2001, he became the Director of Pupil Personnel for the Barren County Schools where he served for three years before moving back to Hardin County to assume the same role for the Hardin County Schools. He then served as Assistant Superintendent for the Elizabethtown Independent Schools from 2005 until 2007 and as Associate Superintendent for Human Resources with the Hardin County Schools until assuming his current position as Superintendent of the Elizabethtown Independent Schools in 2013. 
 
Jon has served as President of the Region IV Director Pupil Personnel association and currently serves on the Kentucky Association of School Administrators Legislative Committee. His interest include most outdoor activities, especially back-country hiking and camping as well as exploring and canoeing in all parts of Kentucky. He is married to Courtney Ballard and they have two sons, Ethan and Jack.
