  • Student Leadership Summit set for Sept. 25

KASA is hosting its first Student Leadership Summit in partnership with George Rogers Clark High School, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET in Clark County. Two additional summits will be held later this year in other regions of the state.

The summit is open to principals, teachers and students attending Kentucky's public schools. There is no charge to attend but seating is limited. Attendees will learn more about GRC's implementation and approach to the Student Leadership Challenge for its 1,600 students through large and small group sessions, experiential learning activities, panel discussions, and a closing session focused on Encouraging the Heart.

The Leadership Challenge® is KASA's foundational leadership program for Kentucky's K-12 school leaders. The work of Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, TLC is based on the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership and 30 leadership behaviors that followers want from a leader. Research shows those who model the behaviors outperform those who don't. KASA launched the program in 2015 with a goal to ensure a shared culture for leadership that brings greater success to students.

The Student Leadership Challenge® is grounded in the same extensive research as TLC but is designed for younger learners. It is consistently proven to liberate the leader in every student regardless of age, experience or background.
